Don’t miss out on PPI because you don’t know how to complain

Angry phone call

More than 15 million Brits routinely miss out on refunds because they lack the confidence to complain.

New research conducted by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has found that 28% of people across the UK put up with situations they are unhappy with as they don’t have the confidence to speak up.

The research was carried out as part of the FCA’s campaign encouraging people to check if they’ve had Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) and make a claim before the 29 August 2019 deadline.

TV presenter Gok Wan and First Dates star Fred Sirieix have been enlisted by the FCA to help promote the campaign and encourage more people to complain about PPI.
Gok Wan said, “As a nation we tend to shy away from sticking up for ourselves, even when we feel we’ve been given a raw deal. But, just like fashion, complaining is all about feeling fearless! That’s why I’m supporting the FCA’s PPI Deadline Campaign – to help the UK complain with confidence whether it’s about bad service when shopping to claiming for mis-sold PPI. From complaining in a way you’re comfortable with to keeping your cool, there are loads of ways to get problems solved and your money back.”

Interestingly, a previous report by the FCA showed that PPI complaints had hit a record high, with 42% of all complaints against financial services firms being in relation to PPI.
